Although using Wi-Fi is more commonplace in cafes and bars as opposed to restaurants, it is becoming more common for many Sydneysiders dining out to use Wi-Fi in restaurants as well, and why not, when it is free, in tandem with a fairly cheap feed. Below are the best places to hang out if you are on an eating out budget in Sydney in more ways than one:
One of Sydney's best kept secrets tucked away in a quiet street in popular Darlinghurst. Getting hung over on some powerful concoction with free Wi-Fi can be a little dangerous, but if you are sensible about it, all is great. Vodka and cordial with mini dogs; the latter being the perfect companion to something so sweet. A historical laundry ambience with insanely cheap cocktail drinks and a wicked and smashing menu that looks at dining way outside the box.
If you love your dumplings with free Wi-Fi access on your smartphone, you might as well need it if you need a break from their extensive dumpling menu. Any of the dumplings with pork (and hey, this is coming from someone who is not a pork lover) are just tasty and flavoursome, and I always go for spinach and prawns which never disappoint. A slight hangover could easily tempt you towards the chocolate variety, which was a slight disappointment, as it was rather rubbery.
A perfect Friday night spot for a group of friends, with Wi-Fi to check those e-mails on your smartphone. Their berry pancakes are a delight, and it is a great idea to walk back to George Street to burn off that slight sluggishness due to their thick and fluffy pancakes with a bit of alcohol to boot. Everything in moderation is definitely a-ok here.
The coffee was a bit of a disappointment, but the flashing decor and free Wi-Fi compensated for this espresso dilemma. Bugger, I should have had coffee in Crows Nest while I was there, otherwise it was great to do a bit of free surfing on my smartphone with great service. And coffee in other areas of St Leonard's is slightly worse anyway.
An extensive menu item, and the free Wi-Fi is always a winner here. I think this establishment could be classed as being more internet friendly as opposed to prompt and efficient service kind of friendly. Maybe it depends on what time of the day you decide to eat here. Do not be in a hurry when you eat out at this establishment, as it can take some time to receive the bill, so free Wi-Fi here is actually a real blessing.
