They are definitely in Acland Street. For interstate, overseas and even local tourists alike to Melbourne's St Kilda, it is really hard not to pass by a cake shop on Acland Street without stopping and taking a look at all of the well presented and beautiful cakes. It is so easy to salivate and waste time observing and then procrastinating as to whether or not I should buy a cake or two. It can be so easy to do.

That Italian feel has come alive, and the best two would have to be Europa and Monarch. Their cannolis are terrific. Not too much sugar which is great, and it is the custard that really makes these sweet Italian treats sing, and at Monarch you would be forgiven for walking out with a cake or two later with a sugar osmosis; effectively not remembering what treat you brought. No different to leaving Adriano Zumbo's establishment at Balmain in Sydney sometimes.

What do you think? Where is St Kilda's best cake shop? Is it in Acland Street, Fitzroy or Barkly St? And why is it so good? Is it because of any particular cake? Looking forward to your input.
