Cue Homer Simpson voice: Mmmmmmmm Buuuurrrrrrrr-gers.

How good are burgers folks? Am I right? You know I'm right and that I'm asking rhetorical questions when there's an important question to answer: Where's the Best Burger Joint in Brissy?

I can't make up my mind. I'm a fan of three for different reasons, none of which particularly cancel out the others.

First, there's those times when you want your burger with a side of humour, generous portion sizes, and lashings of fresh, healthy ingredients. When those times hit me right in the feels I hightail it to Burger Fuel . That's where you'll find food with punny, clever and amusing names like Flamethrower, Ring Burner, and Ford Freakout.

The buns are wholemeal and you don't care because everything is delicious, especially the charred, juicy chicken breast and melted brie on the Bacon Backfire (Char-grilled chicken breast, bacon, brie, salad, relish, aioli). Cue the Homer Simpson drooling sound now.

Phew, okay I've tidied myself up and it's time to talk sliders. Maybe you're not in the mood for one big healthy burger. You might instead have a hankering for a delicious slider duo nestled in gorgeous golden buns and dripping with the most amazing pink mystery sauce (I have no idea what it's made of... unicorn smiles? Magical rainbows? The tears of my enemies?). That's when you need to visit Ribs & Burgers .

You get a full bottle of the magical pink sauce in the little condiments and utensils kettle they give you at the register when you order and I haven't tried yet but I don't think they'd kick you out for trying to drink that pink elixir right from the bottle. The slider duo comes with perfect thick chips which are great with or without the pink enemy tear sauce (but have them with the sauce! Have everything with the sauce! Sauce!) ahem. You can choose two beef or two chicken sliders, or go wild and have one of each.

"Pffffftttttt," I hear you say, "The hipster-punk writer who lives inner city loves gentrified burger joints. Booooooo you're unaustralian! What about a real burger?"

Wow. That's harsh you guys, but probably fair.

Okay so when I'm in the mood for a real burger - you know the ones about which you sometimes feel a gaping pit of nostalgia opening up in your gut? I'm talking about the old fashioned fish and chip shop or roadhouse, home-style, nothing is mass produced, everything tastes brilliant and the juices drip down your arms and you don't care type burger. Kelvin Grove Seafood & Takeaway does my favourite old fashioned traditional style burger. At the risk of sounding like an advert, if the taste of their burgers doesn't immediately transport you back to a moment in your childhood, then the prices will.

So now it's over to you. I'd love to hear your opinions. Where's your favourite burger joint in or around Brisbane and what do you love about them?
