There are number of quality vegetarian food outlets in Melbourne which are cheap, filling and simple. For example Crossways (the Hare Krishna run restaurant) at Swanston Street is just divine. Regardless of your religious denomination, you are welcome to eat here, and their staff are just so friendly, and the service is pretty fast. This establishment does get busy, and within good reason. The ambience is peaceful, the food is abundant and tastes good, and the prices are even better; definitely a cheap eat establishment in Melbourne. For $7.50 a pop (less for students and pensioners, and slightly more to take away) you can help yourself to unlimited drinks, dessert and the main dish. Something would be so wrong if you left this food outlet hungry.

I pass on the cordial, not really for me, I just go for water instead. Any of their dishes with red kidney beans, especially the Chickpea Subji for the main, and pudding with custard for dessert is just awesome.

There is a different item on the menu for a different day of the week.
