What's your first guess? New Farm? Maybe Paddington? Surely the plethora of cafes in West End mean that they'd be a contender, right?

Sorry guys, you're all wrong. Humble Hendra (well, not so humble - have you seen some the houses there?) has some of the best coffee in Brisbane, all within a one kilometer radius.

Next time you're heading to New Farm for a caffeine hit, drive 10 minutes further north to Hendra and discover why this suburb is one of the best for coffee in Brisbane.

1. Dandelion & Driftwood
This really is not a secret. If you don't know about the goodness that is D & D by now, I think you need to revoke your Brisbane citizenship. This cafe on Gerler Road has a lot going for it - quiet back garden area; charming interior; a coffee cart out the front that's open early seven days a week - but it's really the coffee that makes it a favourite. They use two house blends and two single origins, as well as decaf, and all in-cafe orders are served with cupping notes. Information on the origin and altitude of the coffee beans is all very interesting, but it's the taste of these coffees that will keep you coming back - I've truly never had a bad (or even a below-average) cup at D & D.

2. White Jam
Take a quick walk around the corner onto Zillman Rd, and you'll find White Jam. Their sunny, spacious back patio really begs you to change your takeaway order to eat-in. The coffee is always consistently good, and they do a simple but tasty breakfast menu and a few baked treats.

3. Suite Commuter Coffee
Across the road and a few steps up from White Jam is Suite, the always-bustling hole-in-the-wall cafe that's popular with commuters (funny that). Seating is limited, so grab your coffee to-go and take it down the road to the park.

38 Zillman Rd, Hendra

4. Saabi on Manson
A quick five minute walk away is Saabi, a bustling cafe that's popular with locals. Sit outside and jealously admire the gorgeous houses on Manson Road (and perhaps admit you've made some poor life choices) while you sip on your coffee, made from local beans from West End's Veneziano.

116 Manson Rd, Hendra
