Who doesn't love a fabulous, delicious breakfast? If you're staying in the picturesque Yarra Valley (or lucky enough to reside there!) I've decided to share the best brekkie's I've tasted when on weekend jaunt's away!

1. Essenza.

Although this gem of a place is quite small (located in a small laneway) the coffee is absolutely divine, and the Italian-inspired pastries are all baked onsite fresh every day. What's not to love about an espresso and a freshly baked croissant to start the day? Seriously - get yourselves to this cafe. Located in Healesville on the main drag.

2. Yarra Valley Lodge

If you're looking for a reasonably priced, but delicious spread - Yarra Valley Lodge have a fantastic buffet breakfast option! We have actually stayed there (and the buffet is included in every room rate!) but you can book as a non-guest for only $30.

3. Innocent Bystander

One cannot go past Innocent Bystander for a good nosh up at any time of the day. This place is funky warehouse vibes with the service and quality food to match. Had a small eat here (as on way back to Melbourne) but the coffee was a roasty, creamy perfection and we shared a ham and cheese croissant ... which really was not your standard ham and cheese, but an off-the-bone quality, salty piece of pork and the buttery, light and fluffy croissant (can you tell I'm a croissant lover by now?!). Highly recommend this place, and cannot wait to go back for a dusk drink and tapas relaxo rancho.

4. Mocha and Lime

Simple breakfasts, but you can tell this cafe has a lot of heart and soul. The food was fresh and simple - highly recommend. These guys are based in Healesville also (in Green Street).

5. Last (but not least) is Wombat's Chai
This cafe focuses on organic and bio-dynamic ingredients and specialise in dishes for anyone with allergies or special diet requirements. All the ingredients are locally sourced and made on site (every single item!). We loved its laid back feel and the service was so friendly and approachable.

Of course, there are so many more amazing eateries, which we haven't touched on (or been yet!) so watch this space!
