Having covered Melbourne's best coffee, let's talk breakfast - the most important meal of the day - particularly important when suffering from a hangover. We have reviewed a couple of breakfast joints on WeekendNotes - some recommendations from the Melbourne team included La Paloma Cafe in Brunswick, Coin Laundry Cafe in Armadale, Nabiha in Moonee Ponds and The Duchess of Spotswood Cafe in Yarraville.

Other top Melbourne picks would be Proud Mary in Collingwood, Three Bags Full in Richmond, Tom Phat in Brunswick and Las Chicas in Balaclava.

If you know of a great breakfast spot in Melbourne, please let us know about it by leaving a comment below. All kinds of breakfast dishes are welcomed; from pancakes to a full English breakfast to Nasi goreng and everything in-between.

We look forward to your suggestions.

Sweethearts Cafe in South Melbourne. Consistently the best eggs in town - the Chilli-Eggs are devine!

A former South Melbournite, I now cycle from Richmond just for this :)

No breakfast is better than Bagdad Eggs at the Richmond Hill Cafe! we've tried making them ourselves from Stephanie Alexander's recipe, but there's something missing from the original.

My favourite place for breakfast in Melbourne is QPO in Kew, or Catepillar's Dream, also in Kew. OH! And Orange, on Chapel Street - it's a bit hard to get a seat there sometimes, but the food is soooo tastyyyy!
Note: Catepillar's Dream is vegan, so their brekkies don't have any of the stuff that sits uncomfortably on the top of your hangover belly. They do imitate the good stuff though.

Veludo, Acland St, St Kilda

Delicious vegetarian breakfast including Haloumo!! And also the most divine berry pancakes with mascarpone. Great atmosphere with a wall of wine and woodfire behind us too.
All Class.

I have a couple of favorites. The Dusk bar in St Kilda doesnt exist anymore, but I wanted to put a webcam out so that everyone could see the queue of girls that lined up to be fed - a pretty good coffee, I might add, by young, healthy muscular men.

You can't go past the Fairfield Boathouse on a Sunday morning after a bike ride with friends along the Eastern Freeway bike path. The aroma alone as you ride in is to die for.

All of these suggestions sound delicious, and are tempting me to try new breakfasts! Personally I'm a French Toast girl, which I'd recommend at The Quarter (Degraves Street, CBD) and Spiga (Menzies Alley, CBD). If I'm in a hurry, however, and just need to grab something during my dash to work, I'd recommend a Cafenatics (QV, CBD) English Muffin. One of those with a cup of their great coffee puts my day off to a good start, even if I am in a rush.

Everyone's raving about 3 bags full at 60 Nicholson St, Abbotsford. I don't go out o breakfast as much as I'd love to so I really need to choose the right place when I do go. Well I went to this cafe on 21/7/12 and I have to say, although it was a nice breaky, it was nothing special, over priced and although as busy as all get out - it had no atmosphere! 7/10 would be my score.
