Some of us are born as perfect beauty queens, but most of us need to do at least some basic maintenance. Not all of us are talented enough to do our own eyebrows without them looking like miniature snakes, or apply a fake tan that doesn't make us resemble an orange highlighter. My hat goes off to those who are talented enough not to accidentally poke their eyes out with their own tweezers. For the rest of us, there are so many reasons to visit a beauty salon, such as body hair maintenance in the form of waxing or IPL, to skin care such as facials and even peels. Many salons offer in-house body massage treatments. The question is, how do we choose a salon suitable to our specific needs and what makes one salon better than another?

Some salons are chain businesses, such as Ella Rouge. I used to go to Ella Rouge in the city to get my eyebrows waxed and I highly recommend their services because a lot of care was taken with them. Whilst many people shy away from chain businesses, I figured that if the business was good enough to substantially expand, they must be doing something right. Ella Rouge offer IPL, waxing, a variety of skin treatments, piercing, spray tanning, nails and body treatments. The price list is available here .

Those of us who don't like chain businesses might be a little more interested in a salon like Diva Beauty , which also offers myriad services. You can get waxing, IPL, microdermabrasion, spray tanning services, facials, eye treatments and even solarium sessions. Although I personally don't enjoy having my hair down there vigorously ripped out, Diva Beauty's signature treatment is Brazilian waxing which costs $42. Given the central Glebe location and the salon's reputation, if I did enjoy such a treatment I'd likely go there. The complete price list is available here, and unlike many salons they actually also do offer male waxing services.

If you work in the CBD, you might well be interested in Beauty on Park Street . Eyelash tints cost only $20 and eyebrow tints $15. Facials, body treatments, tinting, hand and foot treatments, waxing and spray tanning services are all offered at this salon. Make an appointment if you wish to try it out, especially if you see the geographic location of this salon.

There are so many different types of salons, as you can see. From chains to boutique businesses which offer a multitude of services from weight loss and skin tightening treatments to eyelash tinting and nails. Many salons have a comprehensive list of available treatments but some people might prefer going to many depending on their specialities. Others prefer sticking to one place. Come to think of it, seemingly this salon business pertains to potentially easy holiday presents for those who like beauty treatments. Many salons sell vouchers and deals, especially during Christmas and New Years time.

Whatever your choice is, as our dear reader - please tell us which salon you prefer. What services do you prefer this salon for, everything or just a small range of things? Why do you like this salon in particular? Thank you very much for your answers, everyone.
