Known as one of Australia's favourite sports, the sport of drinking has also become one of the most favourite past times to do with friends.

But if you're going to go drinking or even bar hopping, surely it would be fun to know where are the coolest bars on the Gold Coast.

We would love to hear your thoughts as to the place you like as your favorite watering hole, the place you love to hang out, the place you love to be with your friends.

To get the ball rolling here are a few of my suggestions, organised by 4 main locations:

In Surfers Paradise you could try.
The beer garden for a good old fashioned down to earth pub with live bands playing in Cavill Avenue.

Or the newly relocated piano bar Howl at the Moon

If height is more your thing, you could try the Skypoint Bar at level 77 Skypoint, Surfers Paradise Boulevard.

The views are sure to inspire you.

One of the locals' favorited is Melbas, which is a bar but also an upstairs nightclub.

In Broadbeach:
You could try the Atrium Bar Lounge of Jupiter's Casino which is filled with live bands playing and a pretty fun atmosphere.

In Main Beach:
There is the Fisherman's Wharf Pub at Marina Mirage or perhaps Blue Grotto bar in Tedder Avenue.

In Coolangatta:
You could while away the hours for a lazy Saturday afternoon or a great fun evening at the Surf Clubs.

Or perhaps the slightly crazy Bread N Butter Lounge Bar in Musgrave Street

So over to you - where are your favourite bars, your best hangout places, your favourite watering holes?
