Two Bobs Bakery opened late in 2018 and the locals instantly embraced this new small business with gusto. The smell of freshly-made sourdough bread wafted out the door, coffee smells permeated the air and locals were seen walking out with smiles on their faces. It wasn't long before people were talking about this new kid in town - particularly for their sourdough bread and traditional loaf options. This small bakery can be found on Yacaaba Street in Nelson Bay - make sure you try them when you are in town! See here for details.
Baker's La Vie is located at Salamander Bay shops and is a tucked away locals secret with old fashioned charm. This little bakery does a roaring trade with the local workers, tradies and families, as they stop off on the way to or from school. They offer flakey pies, sausage rolls, spinach rolls, bread, a wide variety of reasonably prices cakes (try the apple slice!) and a sandwich bar - which is exceptionally cheap and tasty. Where else can you buy a chicken and salad roll, jam-packed with ingredients and sweet chilli sauce for $5.90 these days? See here for a map to find it.
Bayz Patisserie is located in Nelson Bay and is popular for its pies, bread, sausage rolls and cakes. It is a handy location as it has a few seats outside the bakery, so you can buy a pie and sit outside with the breeze blowing along the street front. This bakery was recommended to us by a local for for its Steak and Kidney Pie in particular. See here for a map to find it.
