Thinking caps on, pens poised, or if you prefer, coffee and bikkies by the computer. Maybe a Merlot, if that's your poison/inspiration. There are still a little over two weeks to submit your entry in the
Best Australian Yarn Competition for 2022.
This newly created Short Story Competition was founded earlier this year by The Western Australian (newspaper) and Minderoo Foundation and is the World's Richest Short Story Competition.
Essentially, the competition hopes to draw in tales of fiction between 1,500 to 2,500 words from both published and unpublished authors over the age of 12 years. There are NO restrictions on the theme and NO entry fee. What a bonus! For terms and conditions go
here.
There is a prize pool of $50,000 to be won across a range of categories:
OVERALL WINNER $30,000
WA WINNER $4,000
REGIONAL AUSTRALIA WINNER $3,000
8232;YOUTH WINNER $2,000 MENTORING
READERS' CHOICE $2,000
NINE SHORTLISTED FINALISTS $1,000 EACH
With the rain setting in, this is an opportunity to submit an entry before the closing date of May 31st. I'll be moving my Merlot, sorry, Milo, into the study for the duration.
