Darwin is a very multi-cultural city. It's Asian food scene rocks. Although this is little known to people not local to Darwin.

Rapid Cafe, 48 Trower Rd Millner. This little restaurant is always bustling. It's run by a Japanese man so don't forget to say 'Origato Kohsiamus'. The fried scallops are to die for, his Chicken Katsu Curry is just like what my Japanese mum makes. It's a local institution for Japanese takeaway. It's a great cheap eat in Darwin.

My Friend's Kitchen, 3/52 Mitchell Street Darwin. I've been to Vietnam twice and the food here is as authentic as in Vietnam. Awesome spring rolls and very tasty pho. It may not look like much from the outside but it's awesome. Takeaway is available too.

Sari-Rasa Unit, 6/ 24 Cavanagh Street Darwin This little place is run by a family who have been in Darwin for a long time. It's a bit tricky to find, but once you do, you won't be disappointed. Being tucked away usually only locals know about it, but it's a Darwin institution. They also have a little Stall at the Rapid Creek Markets each Sunday and at Mindil, so if you miss them during the week in the CBD don't fret! Their beef rendang wrap or murtabak is available from the Rapid Creek Markets and are my personal favourites. This place is one of Darwin's best-kept secrets.

Laksa House, 54 Stuart Hwy Stuart Park. Their charcoal chicken is the best in Darwin. You'll never go back to Nandos in Darwin once you find this place. It is so tasty. They are also obviously famous for laksa. This place is only open for dinner, and it doesn't look like much on the outside. Don't let appearances deceive you. The Indo meals are authentic and the best with so much flavour and a nice little area to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Take a friend or two because the servings are massive.

Enjoy your tour of the food of Asia, Darwin style! If you have a recommendation you would like to share, please leave a comment.
