Do you enjoy trying out different exercise ideas, to mix things up in your fitness regime? It's a good way to keep things interesting, so you feel excited about exercise - not bored by it. This is the challenge faced by many people, including myself, especially in the winter months in Canberra. Fortunately, there are many different ways to spice up your exercise regime with a variety of indoor and outdoor options, walks , bike rides , water sports and adventure sports . Although these sound quite intense and physical, there are other exercise options which are a little easier on the joints, so they are ideal for people who need a low impact exercise or who are just starting on their fitness journey. Aqua Aerobics fits the bill as it can be enjoyed by everyone - both men and women of any age. Everyone is there for their own reasons and who knows, you may find some like-minded people to have a laugh with each week.

Best For: Warm Water & Pool Deck**

King Swim has three locations in Canberra - Majura Park, Deakin and Macgregor. Each of them offer the best all-round experience, in my opinion. As the swimming pools are designed for children's swimming classes, they have the added benefit of having warmer water and pool deck temperature, so you can comfortably do Aqua Aerobics all year around. I personally visited to my closest King Swim for a free introductory lesson and was surprised by how much of a workout I got from exercising in water. I may not have left as exhausted as other exercise venues, however I definitely felt like I had worked my muscles, joints and cardio - without worrying about being sore afterwards. Contact your preferred location for a timetable and they are sure to offer you a free introductory class. For example Majura Park have 8 classes a week to choose from, including Saturdays, for $14.90 for a casual rate, 10 visits for $117, or 20 visits for $202. See here for details.

Best For: Variety**

Club Blue at the Canberra International Sports and Aquatic Centre (CISAC) has the most options for Aqua Aerobics in Canberra, with 5 different classes - Aqua Cardio, Aqua Pulse, Aqua Size, Aqua Zumba and H20 Lite. Most of the classes focus on a cardio workout and toning, which will burn the calories in a low impact way. Casual visits costs $10.50, or why not buy a 10 pass for $94.50 and keep going back every week? See here for details.
