Having food intolerances often makes going out to cafes and restaurants challenging. I often sift through the breakfast menu salivating at the thought of pancakes, bircher muesli and all the other goodies on offer only reach the very bottom of the menu that says toast (gluten free available for $2 extra) and more often than not, it's the only thing I can find on a menu that's gluten, fructose and dairy free. Not the most exciting diet by anyone's standards but sometimes it's just nice to get out to a cafe where you're not limited to one or two choices without having to go and chat with the staff about what ingredients are in the food and if they could adjust the dish accordingly to suit your allergies. Personally, I don't like to make a fuss and I'm sure many of you don't either so my question is Where is the best allergy friendly cafe?

Here is a list of allergy friendly cafes that can be found in and around Melbourne. If you have been to any of these or can recommend one of your favourites then we would love to hear from you.

Hi Lorraine,
Great list! You've mentioned some of my favourite cafes. I also love Pomona in Preston for their delicious spelt sourdough, gluten free options and their accommodating nature.
Thanks for mentioning my blog Friendly Little Kitchen as well :) I have also just launched A Friendly Gathering www.afriendlygathering.com) with a friend and have a low FODMAP and gluten free friendly event coming up in September. Would love for you to check it out!
Many thanks,
