Do you love your air fryer? It makes cooking dinner so much easier, doesn't it? It is also very handy in the summer months when you don't want to put the oven on - the air fryer keeps the house cool and cooks everything in half the time. We use the air fryer mostly for chips, sausages, chicken schnitzels, nuggets for the kids and burger patties, so it gets a real work out - particularly on those busy weeknights!
What do you like to cook in the air fryer? Do you use your air fryer for baking? I would love to hear about it! Please leave a comment at the top of this article and it will be shown underneath, for others to read. These are my two favourite (and easiest!) recipes that I use a lot on weekends. Why don't you give them a try?
Air Fryer Granola
Ingredients: 1.5 cups oats, 3/4 cup mixed nuts, seeds and dried fruit (I mostly use cranberry and walnuts), 3 Tablespoons desiccated coconut, 1 Tablespoon chia seeds, 3 Tablespoons maple syrup, 2 Tablespoons olive oil and 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Line the air fryer base with baking paper, with some baking paper coming up the sides. Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl and then pour onto the baking paper. Cook at 190 degrees for 8 minutes, pulling out the drawer and stirring halfway. When finished, pull out the drawer and leave it to allow it to cool and harden up. Use the baking paper to lift it out and pour/ shake it into an airtight container, breaking it up as it goes in. Sprinkle over the top of yoghurt with fresh fruit.
Air Fryer Scones
Ingredients: 1.5 cups self-raising flour, 1/2 cup cream, 1/2 cup lemonade
Combine the ingredients in a large bowl, until it forms a dough. Scatter some extra flour onto the kitchen benchtop and roll the dough in the flour to make it easier to handle. Form a mound and then divide the dough evenly into 4 balls. Brush the tops with milk (optional). Place baking paper in the bottom of the air fryer and place the 4 dough mounds on top. Cook for 180 degrees for 12 minutes. Serve warm or cold with jam and cream. See
here for a full article.
Please note that these times are for my personal air fryer, so your model may cook at different times. Pull out the drawer and check how it's cooking a few minutes from the finish time and adjust your cooking as necessary.
There are plenty of other recipes that you can use to make delicious food in your air fryer - generally, if you can cook it in your oven, then you can cook it in your air fryer at a fraction of the time. Also check out the article
Pork, Leek & Spinach Rolls for another tasty recipe that I make in the air fryer. My other
favourite sausage roll recipe (a "cheat" version!) is also another successful recipe for the air fryer, cooked for the same amount of time.
