After many years Bernard's Magic Store is moving from its headquarters on Elizabeth St. Having been trading since 1937 this relocation to West Melbourne (to 355 Victoria St) is a "happy move", but one that'll understandably be met with some sadness by folks who depended upon it for a deck of cards, a top hat or wand at any given time in the Melbourne CBD.



But with this move comes a great big sale. Wigs, costumes and novelties in particular will be sold off, which represents a great chance to get something goofy for your Friday night out on the town at a theme bar, or just stock up for Halloween with a desire to make 2015's the best Halloween of all time - of all time.



Beyond the sale and move, the history of the store and clear commitment to their craft is on show. While the writer is not an expert on the history of magic - and thus all leading magicians - the 'Honour wall' of performers who've came into contact with the store, as well as a display of all former owners of Bernard's evidences this is a business that cares about its craft and customers.



You only have the next few days to visit and take in the history of the store in its current location and perhaps pick up a green fedora before curtain call on Bernard' Elizabeth St store.


Wherever it is located Bernard's Magic Shop will surely have a loyal following. The next couple of days offer a great chance to see where it has been for so long. Why not swing by and get a magic wand? It may just make your train home run perfectly on time.
