This festival is only available in Frankfurt. Under the motto "Literature as a Volksfest", a literary prize of 20,000 Euros will be given at the Bergen-Enkheimer district festival "Berger Markt". On the day before the official opening of the "Berger Markt" the appointment of the new city-keeper or the new town-keeper of Bergen-Enkheim will take place. This prize has existed since 1974. Whoever receives this title can also live free of charge for one year in the town hall.

On the next day, this festival is officially opened and the apple queen is crowned. Another attraction is a traditional cattle drive. The "Berger Markt" is originally a cattle market.

This festival gives people an opportunity to experience a touch of country life. There will be cows and horses, hares, chicken and sheep. During this festival, organised by the Bergen-Enkheim Cultural Society, there is always a colourful supporting program: rides, live bands, children's events, a worship service and impressive fireworks show to make the "Berger Markt" a real attraction every year.
