Beowulf, the epic poem dating from Anglo Saxon times, may well be one of the most important works in the history of the English language.
This Saturday 5 May, internationally-acclaimed singer and harpist Benjamin Bagby will deliver this thrilling story of dragons, ogres, conquests and extraordinary feats in a heroic solo performance in the cavernous setting of the Fitters' Workshop in Kingston. This award-winning performance regularly sells out in theatres around the world, from New York to London and everywhere in between.Come experience this seminal work as it was meant to be heard, with Bagby as bard, accompanying himself on the harp as he sings the first third of the epic up to the celebration after the death of Grendel. The performance is in the original Anglo-Saxon language, with modern English supertitles.
