I am a mumma to 2 little boys and love to explore the local areas of Sydney for fun, play and eateries.

Water adds serenity and calmness to agitated and charged up minds. As much as I would like to drive up the beach or waterside and have a relaxing cuppa, traffic snarls of the big and busy city of Sydney kills the whole feeling. So I decided to find local and headed up to Nepean Riverside in Penrith.

Bennett's on the River offers unique and stunning views of the Nepean River from the deck of the Penrith Platypus Cruiser— a boat. The views of the picturesque riverfront were breathtaking. The lush green riverside lawns straight take you to the boat cafe. Parking bays were aplenty and there was separate parking for trailer bound vehicles as well.

The gentle breeze on a calm weekday took me in a full adrenaline mode up the single ramp. The single ramp is wheelchair and single wide pram friendly. The cafe is ramp friendly only till the ground level of the boat. Rest of the places has a different flight of stairs unless you have a baby in sling and can fold a pram. This is a sit-down table service but food and drinks are available for takeaway as well. Being pram free and no kids in tow, I headed to the top covered level of the boat cafe. There was another uncovered level as well, but I didn't explore that. There were table and chairs and sit down leather lounges to enjoy meals and drinks.

The calming views offered variety for kids and the little ones in ways of ducks and local birds indulging in water play. Adults could absorb the scenic Blue hills and some did fishing while some were learning boating.

There was ample of options in the menu from gluten free to vegetarian in the hot and cold food and drinks. I ordered my favourite French Toast with a cappuccino for about 16$. They use the local coffee roaster Morgans by public demand. There is also a variety of alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks.

Unique riverside location makes it a perfect place for coffee catch ups and photographic meet ups.

Hi Poonam, Have you been to the lovely art gallery, on the (other) side of this river? It also has lovely gardens, & a small cafe, although it has changed a little over the years since my aunt & uncle & 2 cousins lived there..
