A fixture of the Wynnum bayside for over 20 years, this popular Indian restaurant prides itself on making curries with their in-house sauce to provide a taste and smell that is distinctive from other curry restaurants.
A descriptive menu provides the casual and experienced curry lover with full details of the house specialties from the well-known Rogan Josh, Buttered Chicken and Tikka Masala to Rezela, unique to the Bengal Curry House.
We decided to go off the standard menu opting for a Sri Lankan curry and the highly recommended chicken Rozela. The delicious Rozela is rich in coconut milk and sliced capsicum, onion and fresh coriander, served with either chicken, lamb or prawn. It certainly passed the taste test with the flavours melting with each taste.
The Sri Lanka dish was a creamy non-dairy coconut-based subtly spiced curry that melts in your mouth with highlights of lemon and coriander leaves to enhance the flavours.
The specialty Shahi or Kashmiri Korma is described as 'a curry for the elite class due to its costly ingredients.' Delicious almonds, macadamia, walnuts and pecans grace the creamy coconut sauce of this heavenly curry. Lamb or chicken is recommended as its accompaniment with garlic Naan or plain Paratha.
A special mention for the Naan bread for which the Bengal Curry House is well known for its hand-rolled bread cooked as soon as you order and served piping hot. Choose from Roti, Naan or the flaky, light and non-greasy Paratha.
All Bengal Curry House curries are cooked according to a unique and secret Amen family recipe creating dishes with enticing aromas that tantalise your taste buds. All curries are gluten-free with no added artificial flavours or preservatives added to the curries. Vegetables, meat and poultry are sourced within Queensland.
Small plates can be ordered offering the opportunity to taste the flavours of more than one curry. You can ask for mild, medium, hot or Indian hot for your curries. Extra chillies are offered.
