With over 120 years of history, Bendigo has had its fair share of moments to commemorate. The tradition it seems, has been to mark each event by sticking a a great, big statue somewhere.

Do you like the public artworks? Do you think that they still have the same meaning as they did when they were put there? Is it the historical monuments or the more modern works that you prefer?

Bendigo has dozens of examples of public art. In fact, it's a bit of a sculpture city and I wonder whether you can identify each of the pieces on this list?

'The Cornish Miner' (Bendigo Library)
'The Rush Gateway' (Bendigo Library)
'The Discovery of Gold' (Corner of Bridge St & Pall Mall)
'Queen Victoria' (Pall Mall)
' George Lansell ' (Pall Mall)
'The Soldier Tribute' (Williamson St)
'After the Procession' (Pall Mall)

'Naked Lady' (Conservatory Gardens)
'Relief of a Boy and Girl' (disused water fountain, Rosalind Park)
'Relief of former Mayor, James. H. Curnow (Rosalind Park)
'Bust of Sir John Quick' (Pall Mall)
'Chyrsanthemum, Lotus and Garlic Flowers' (Dai Gum San)
'Dancing Women' (High Street towards Kangaroo Flat)
'Peter Stared into the Vast Unknown' by Matt Calvert
(Behind the Bendigo Art Gallery)
' Film Reel & Man with a Tophat' (Bath Lane)

All of Bendigo's public art sculptures are within walking distance of one another. If you're looking for an adventure one day, you could create your own walking tour that visits them all.

Are there any others that you can think of? Which of the ones on the list is your favourite Bendigo art sculpture and why?

Also, do you happen to know the name or could you explain the sculpture in the Conservatory Gardens that shows a man fighting a leopard, that's being bitten by a dog? That one confuses me.
