Writers not fighters unite
The Bendigo Writers Festival is on again from Friday 11 August to Sunday 13 August 2017 and takes place in the heart of Bendigo's View Street arts precinct.

Bendigo Writers Festival

The Bendigo Writers Festival is in its sixth year and offers audiences a truly inspiring winter long weekend. This year there are plenty of new events and venues, plus a brilliant line-up of international guests and Australian writers.

The festival brings people together to meet and talk about books and writing in beautiful Bendigo. There will be interviews and debates and there will be something to delight, amuse, intrigue and stimulate everyone.

This year's pass-program gives exclusive access to 67 sessions in five View Street venues. The 3-day program can be downloaded here.

The Festival theme for 2017 is Where We're At. The topic is sure to inspire lively conversation on the Friday Opening Night.

On Saturday night, La Trobe University's distinguished Vice Chancellor's Fellow Tony Walker hosts a conversation on "How the World Changed" with London-based writer and ethicist Kenan Malik.

To close the Festival, it's bound to be a funny conversation with comic duo Judith Lucy and Denise Scott, fresh from their triumphant London tour of their new show, "Disappointments". Kaz Cook will be interviewing the duo to find out what happens after the "Disappointments".

In between, there is a wide range of special guests and topics to enjoy from authors to poets, scriptwriters, cartoonists, novelists, memoir writers, crime writers and historians.

There are also more non-pass ticketed events programmed at the Ulumbarra Theatre this year.

Although the festival officially starts on the Friday, checkout the pre-festival events here.
