Often when I talk to retirees they say they're so busy they don't know how they managed to fit in time to go to work. One look at the program for the
Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival and I understand exactly what they mean.
[ADVERT]The week is full of free and low-cost activities in
Perth and
regional areas . How about admission to the Bell Tower for a gold coin donation or a free tea dance at Fremantle Town Hall?
One of the aims of Seniors Week is to challenge negative stereotypes and present a positive image of ageing. The biggest event of the week,
Have a Go Day , supports this goal admirably.
14 000 people attended last year; this year there will be even more to see with over 200 stalls and demonstrations. As the name implies, there's ample opportunity to try things like golf, canoeing or tai chi. If those don't appeal, there's always Nintendo Wii, Xbox Kinect or geocaching, plus hundreds of others. No wonder there's no time for work!
