New to Canberra, I love exploring this city and the secrets that it holds with my family.
Movies, music & FREE icecream on Sundays
Ben and Jerry's Openair Cinema is back for another year, erected outside the National Library on the Patrick White Lawns. The Openair Cinema runs for over a month between January 14th and February 21st where movie-goers can enjoy live music, ice cream and pizzas while they wait for the sun to set and for the movies to begin. Pull up some grass or hire a deck chair and sit back to enjoy the huge range of movies on offer nightly. With latest releases, drama, suspense, comedy, kids movies and quirky additions, there is something for everyone at this popular outdoor event.

On opening night there will be Ron Howards' "In the Heart of The Sea" starring Australia's own Chris Helmsworth and based on the Moby Dick classic. Gates open at 6:30pm so movie goers can enjoy the live music and food on offer before the movie begins at 8:30pm at sunset. This movie in particular will be a highlight of the month long event - a suspenseful flick guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your beanbag.
There are a number of seating options to choose from each night on Patrick White Lawns. Bring a picnic blanket and arrive early to nab the best spots on the grass or hire a deckchair beanbag to relax in comfort. Another option is to buy tickets to Polo Class, which includes entrance to the exclusive area, a bean lounger with cushion and blanket, a Ben and Jerry's shorty ice cream, a soft drink and $2 of every ticket sold goes to charity.
The music will be another highlight of the event, with local DJ's and live bands performing at each session which will make for a fun night for all ages as the sun goes down over Canberra.

As this is an outdoor event, check the weather forecast beforehand in case you need you need to bring and extra layer or an umbrella. See the FAQ page for details.
With a warm summer ahead, this month long event is an ideal way to spend the evening relaxing by Lake Burley Griffin. With latest release movies and live music, reclining on a deckchair with a frosty cold drink and a good movie will be a popular way to spend this summer in Canberra.
