As one of Adelaide's most dedicated ice cream connoisseurs (I carry an ice cream spoon in my handbag for emergencies), I can joyfully announce an amazing event is about to take place.

Do not tell your friends (or the queue will get too long), but Ben & Jerry's ice cream is opening its first Adelaide Scoop Shop. It's at Hoyts Norwood. Due to Ben & Jerry's creamy heart of gold (or brownies), the Grand Opening features music, fun and (shhh) free ice cream.

Ben & Jerry's have been concocting the most creative, inventive flavours since 1978. With over 20 flavours to choose from and names like Chunky Monkey, Phish Food and Clusterfluff how can you resist trying one of these flavour sensations?

What makes Ben & Jerry's Taste Good?
Clusterfluff is peanut butter ice cream with peanut buttery swirls, marshmallow swirls and caramel cluster pieces. The delight-phully named Phish Food is chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow, caramel swirls & chocolatey fish. You'll go bananas over Chunky Monkey when you learn it is chocolatey chunks and walnuts in banana ice cream. I know you were melting with curiosity to learn the ingredients.

Some of their flavours are not too hard to guess. Chocolate Fudge Brownie is chocolate ice cream with fudge brownies. Mango Mango Sorbet is ... mango sorbet. But what goes into the New York Super Fudge Chunk? What makes a Couch Potato? Couch Potato is vanilla ice cream with a salty caramel swirl and chocolatey covered potato chip clusters. New York is super because it has chocolate ice cream with white and dark chocolatey chunks, chocolatey-covered almonds, walnuts and pecans.

Ben and Jerry's are Good for the Planet
They choose to support social and economic justice and respectful dialogue among people everywhere. Ben and Jerry's
support models of economic organisation that lift people out of poverty to create a more equitable world
have a long history of supporting family-owned farms
support mandatory GMO labelling legislation
buy eggs that come from hens on Certified Humane cage-free farms
use Fairtrade ingredients (Mexican Huatusco Union cooperative coffee, Ivory Coast cocoa powder, Ugandan vanilla, Ecuadoran El Guabo cooperative bananas and sugar from Belize) to make sure small farmers in developing countries can compete and thrive in the global economy by receiving a fair price for their harvest
use dairy products from family farms in the Caring Dairy program that help farmers move toward more sustainable practices on their farms
buy brownies from Greyston Bakery that is committed to providing jobs and training for applicants who face barriers to employment

So get down to Hoyts Norwood on 8 February for Free Scoop Sunday. The fun begins at 1:00pm and runs through until 5:00pm. You would be Half Baked* to miss it.

* Half Baked is chocolate and vanilla ice creams mixed with chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough and fudge brownies.
