Hands up who loves the Cartoon Network?
Okay hands down. It's getting hard for me to type one handed.
If you enthusiastically raised a hand, then I'm certain you'll have seen Ben 10, which is watched in over 2.9 million homes in Australia and New Zealand.
The series revolves around Ben, a normal ten-year old boy goes from zero to hero after discovering a watch-like device called the Omnitrix. Once this mysterious device attached itself to him, he couldn't take it off. How frustrating.
Lucky for me however, I could take my Toys R Us Omnitrix version off after an evening out. It's the second most awesome watch in existence by the way, next to my Casio Calculator watch, which I like to keep well hidden away from pirates in my
indoor cubby house.
Still, what the Omnitrix ended up giving him was the power to transform in to ten different alien life-forms. This is easily done by combining the DNA of the selected alien with the user's own DNA (quite simple really). So, this effectively turns Ben in to the selected alien species for ten minutes.
So he
(reluctantly) becomes a superhero. Which forces me to ask the question, as I'm sure nine out of ten eight year olds would - Why on Earth would you be
reluctant to be a superhero if you had the capabilities? It boggles me how anyone could be reluctant.
Anyway, with the help of his Grandpa Max and cousin Gwen, he defeats Vilgax, who is an alien warlord determined to rule the Earth. He then continues to defend the Earth, until he turns eleven. It is then that he finds a way to remove the Omnitrix, so his life goes back to normal.
But, that would mean the end of the series wouldn't it? Yes. So you guessed it, Ben's normal life doesn't last too long.
So there you have the basics of the program. Which you'll want to know if you're attending the Ben 10 Live stage show.
That's right, Ben's hopping out of your TV screen and right in to our world for one show only.
His Majesty's Theatre is Ben's venue of choice, and his allocated Perth landing date will be perfect for the kids - Tuesday October 11 (during school holidays).
Ben 10: Time Machine is a new costume show, filled with action, stunts and special effects.
This 85 minute show stars Ben, his cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max, plus Ben's alien superheroes, Four Arms, Diamondhead, Swampfire, Big Chill, and one of his awesome new Ultimate Aliens.
And, this show wouldn't be a show without his love to hate enemies Vilgax, Highbreed Commander, the DNAliens and The Forever
Knights.
So, if you want to get in some ultimate Ben 10 viewing before the show in October, you can catch
Ben 10, Ben 10 Alien Force, and
Ben 10 Ultimate Alien on the Cartoon Network now.
There's also been talk that Mega Producer Joel Silver announced that he along with Warner Bros. and Dark Castle Entertainment would bring Ben 10 to the big screen.
But at the end of the day, you can't beat real life.
