A couple of Sundays ago our family enjoyed a truly delightful dining experience at
. The occasion was to celebrate my husband's birthday so we decided to choose a restaurant that none of us had eaten out before.
is situated at Portside in Hamilton and is literally port side, with views of the Brisbane River. Viewing the river whilst wining and dining is quite a relaxing experience for me. I believe that the view could be somewhat impeded when the Cruise boats are docked here. Lucky for us our view was unobstructed on this Sunday afternoon.
[ADVERT]Our taste buds were already watering upon reading the menu, which had a contemporary European influence. Dining in a group of six we all managed to chose different dishes and therefore were able to taste test other dishes aside from our own.
Our meals were served in reasonable time by friendly and attentive wait staff. My husband had ordered the rib eye fillet (medium) with roast potatoes ($43). His steak was mouthwatering tender and perfect just the way he likes it.
My choice was the chargrilled squid with chickpeas and rocket ($35) It arrived nicely presented and the squid melted in your mouth tender. Very tasty.
My son enjoyed the Belvedere burger ($21) with a side of fat chips, in addition to his fries which came with the burger.
Other dishes ordered and enjoyed, were the ribs plate ($38), bangers and mash with caramelised onions and red wine jus ($29), and roasted barramundi fillet ($35). A table of empty plates at the end of the meal only says one thing and in our case it was a very tasty and satisfying thing.
There was live music this particular Sunday lunch which added to the ambience of a relaxing long lunch for us.
After looking at the dessert menu we all agreed that we couldn't leave until we had also tried the desserts. We chose five yummy sounding desserts to share which included fresh mango whipped cheesecake, vanilla creme brûlée, white chocolate and cardamom rice pudding, apple and rhubarb crumble, and orange and almond cake. Ahh, what a mouthful.
A truly delightful array of decadent desserts, all of which lived up to the high expectations of our family and taste buds. We weren't disappointed. My favourite was the white chocolate and cardamom rice pudding with fennel marmalade.
Even though it is on the expensive end of fine dining, the is a place worth experiencing. The atmosphere and friendliness of the restaurant made for a truly delightful birthday celebration for my husband.
