Relax & unwind in your own scenic villa
Are you looking for a quiet location, for a weekend away in the Hunter Valley? My family and I recently spent two nights at Beltana Villas Pokolbin, and we have been reminiscing about our time there ever since! We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa on the 25 acre property, which was serenely quiet with a view of a small dam and a beautiful green hill behind, covered in vines. Kangaroos grazed outside our villa each morning and we swam in the pool, each afternoon. Each of the villas on the property were nicely spaced, so they each had the same view, but we didn't hear anyone the entire time we were there (and there were cars in each car space).
It really was, a quiet country escape in the Hunter Valley.
Beltana Villas have both one-bedroom and two-bedroom self contained villas, with free wi-fi and wheelchair-access. Our two-bedroom villa was immaculately clean and very spacious, with a queen-sized bed in each bedroom and bathroom for each one (with one having a bath). This suited us as a family of three, and we could see that it would be a good layout for two couples staying together.
The lounge room was spacious with three couches, a fireplace (with chopped wood available), a large dining table and two doors out to the verandah. The kitchen had everything we needed and more for a 2 night stay - a Nespresso coffee machine with pods, full-sized fridge and freezer, cutlery and plates, 2 small hot plates and a microwave. The only things the villa didn't have was an oven or any laundry facilities, if you decided to stay longer. The 12 meter pool was a big highlight - we practically had to drag our daughter away from the pool and spa each afternoon! Don't forget to bring your own beach towels - the pool is heated and the spa is hot, so you can use it all year around.
Beltana Villas is located just a short drive off the New England Highway, then up Old North Road to get to the front gate. When we left the property to go out for the day, it only took us 15 minutes to get to the Hunter Valley Gardens and Harrigan's Irish Pub, 5 minutes to Ironbark Brewery/ Peter Drayton Wines (for wine tasting, beer tasting and wood-fired pizza), 8 minutes to 4 Pines at the Farm Brewery (where we had both breakfast and dinner on one day), 18 minutes to Hunter Valley Zoo and just a short distance to local golf courses. There are more than 150 wineries in the Hunter Valley, so as you drive along there are at least several along each road - with 20 of them located just minutes from the villas.
We felt far enough away to be secluded, but it was also close enough to be convenient. If you don't feel like eating out, or don't like driving at night, there was also a BBQ on the verandah to cook your own meals. A Coles supermarket is located 13 minutes drive away, at Branxton.
Just 5 minutes to Peter Drayton Wines & Ironbark Brewhouse, for wood-fired pizzas for lunch
The owners of the property - John and Trish - were wonderful hosts and were always available by phone. We called them when we arrived at the property at 3pm to check in and they directed us to our villa and explained how to get in. I had some accommodation vouchers to use and John came down to scan them for me and stayed for a quick chat, and gave us some recommendations of things to do in the area.
We really felt at home in our 2 bedroom Beltana Villa - it was our "home away from home" for two nights and we all relaxed and felt the warmth of country hospitality. We can't wait to go back again, and wake up to this relaxing view...
