, set in the middle of the winter racing season is all about the ladies. With a ladies day function, fashion, live entertainment, and I've heard there is also some horse racing; it's a great excuse to get out for a day of fun with your friends.

If you fancy spending the full day at Belmont Racecourse, then the Oaks Day Ladies Function will package everything up for you. Tickets include a delectable three-course seated lunch, a glass of welcome bubbles, live entertainment including Myer fashion parades and DJ plus a chance to win some great prizes. You will also receive reserved seating to watch the races and a racebook to help you with your tips if you are keen to have a flutter. For those who prefer to plan their own day in general admission, entry will cost you $12 and there is a range of options for lunch including a three-course buffet luncheon, a cafe and a number of take-away venues.

Ladies Day at the races has a reputation for attracting both sophisticated and fun fashion. Tips for this season's winter race-wear include heavier weighted materials such as wool and fur, deeper tones matched with stockings and closed-toed shoes or boots , felt hats, and gloves. The 50s look is a popular choice at the races so head out your local vintage clothing store or op shop for inspiration and have fun. A cloakroom is available at the main entry to the Belmont Racecourse grandstand so you can always off-load your coat or jacket once you arrive.

Feature races for the day include the $80,000 Listed Belmont Oaks and the $125,000 Group 3 Strickland Stakes, which will be held at Belmont for the second year since moving from Ascot.
