The Bellagio Restaurant, Kadina

On a recent trip to Kadina, I was in the mood to eat somewhere special and The Bellagio stood out from among the rest of the eating options. (The restaurant is located at 41 Taylor Street in Kadina, a little off the main shopping area, where parking is easier.) The Bellagio may be a little more expensive than some local pub or take-away, but offered a romantic atmosphere, good quality Italian food and a comfortable licensed venue.

I said it was "a little more expensive" than take-away, but it was not horribly expensive. Main courses started at around $20-$22 for pasta or pizza. On enquiry, we discovered that management did not mind if a table shared the pizza, so we ordered a half-and-half pizza, with ham and pineapple (otherwise known as Hawaiian) on one side and something with salami, mushroom and olives on the other side. This cost us $19.90 for a 12" pizza.

We ordered several entrees, the garlic bread, which was warm and garlicy, and the aranicini balls, which are some exotic combination of deep fried rice and vegetables. The garlic bread was $5.90 and the arancini balls were $10.90.



When the pizza arrived, it was truly Italian style. The ham was generously cut and the olives were sliced in half. The toppings were spread liberally and evenly across the pizza and the cheese was delicious. While we were sitting in the restaurant, we saw take-away orders being collected, so we deduced The Bellagio offered take-away service as well.

However, the real delight is the atmosphere. The Bellagio is liberally decorated with Italian touches, ranging from the wallpaper and panelling, to the ceiling patterning and chandeliers. The walls are covered with huge carnival masks and one very impressive painting.
