I think I would be hard pressed finding a girl who grew up in the 90s that didn't sing in to their hairbrush to 'Summer Rain' by Belinda Carlisle .

And if you were one of those girls, no doubt you also used to hit your throat with the edge of your hand to make your voice vibrate in sync with 'Leave a Light On'.



Did you want to be a red head too? I bet you did. Belinda Carlisle is definitely one of those singers who had an effect on me when I was growing up. When I think of my childhood and the music that surrounded me, I think of Belinda Carlisle. On cassette. She was every girl's favourite artist, which is why it excites me no end to tell you about her upcoming tour.

It has been a decade since we have been lucky enough to have Belinda Carlisle perform on our side of the country, so you'll want to get your hands on tickets to her upcoming show now, now, now.

You may or may not know, but Belinda Carlisle's claim to fame was as lead singer of the band The Go-Go's, who had hits like We Got The Beat, and Our Lips Are Sealed. That was 1978, and a little early for me, so imagine my surprise when I heard that one. I actually had a little 'Oh yeahhh' moment. How completely obvious.

After the band split up in 1985, she went solo and brought out the big guns. Like Runaway Horses, Leave a Light On and Heaven is a Place on Earth.



I remember dancing to these songs with my sisters when I was just little Becky. Her songs were always very simple to dance to. With lyrics like "Before you close the door" and "Woaa Runaway Horses", it made for fairly obvious dance moves, such as the classic opening of the door move, and also the running horse move. Both Classics.

But it's not just the 80s that she conquered. In 1996 she released her pop classic In Too Deep. Originally a Jenny Morris song, Carlisle had much more success with her version.

So during the concert, you should expect to hear some of her biggest hits, from past to present.

Personally, I hold Belinda Carlisle in the same category as Stevie Nicks. Two powerful artists who have implanted their songs in to the part of my brain I head back to often, just to feel what I did when I was a little one. Both successful, strong and everything I would wish to be in a female artist.

This is definitely a concert not to miss.
