Nestled under the Punthill apartments in Dandenong on the corner of Lonsdale St (Dandenong hwy, if you're not a local) and Foster Rd sits the Beletti Restaurant. I hadn't thought much about this restaurant until I kept bumping into people who insisted that I give it a try. After all, a of the lot of the local professionals can be found there wining and dining both day and night. Dandenong is a very multicultural place, and there are heaps of authentic eating places each representing a different part of the world and Belletti's is no different being Italian in its orientation, although with kangaroo on the menu it certainly has an Australian twist.
This restaurant has a touch of class; the staff were very courteous and friendly, yet not obtrusive and obviously well schooled in the art of hospitality. Even when we ordered a single glass of wine of a certain brand they brought out the entire bottle and poured the glass of wine in front of us after showing us the label on the already opened bottle. There was a sense of dignity about the whole process that made us feel special. Cloth napkins and plates of well presented food, that tasted as good as it looked, what more could you ask for?
I know it's not Italian but How can you go past a good sticky date pudding?
They had interesting seating options including a circular couch (at seat height) nestled around a circular table, as well as normal tables and there was also an outdoor dining area where quite a few people seemed to be sitting. There was also a kids menu on offer if required. Booking - we didn't book but given how busy it was for a Tuesday night booking might be advisable later in the week. Getting there - easily accessible by rail or car. Parking - Free, unlimited parking after 6pm. There is also a supermarket carpark close by that could be used if there was no parking available. Disabled Access friendly - very Kid friendly - we didn't see any kids but the menu revealed that they were welcome.
