Behind the Wire Exhibition at the Shrine of Remembrance Visitor Centre, running from 13 August to 23 October 2016 during the opening hours of 10am to 5pm daily, is a complement of the commemorative events of Vietnam Veterans Day on 18 August 2013, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan. Entry is by donation.

This exhibition highlights the jobs and experiences of the Vietnam vets, in their own words. Photographer Susan Gordon-Brown has captured the stories and portraits of National Servicemen and regulars, soldiers, sailors, airmen and nurses of many different ranks and roles from all over Australia, through interviews. Her goal was to find out about their training prior to Vietnam, the day-to-day life and coping strategies of the veterans on tour, and how they settled back into life in Australia when they returned.

Floor Talk with Susan Gordon-Brown
23 August 2016 - arrive 5.30pm for 6pm start
Shrine Visitor Centre

Why not couple this exhibition with a curator talk and hear from Susan herself, as she discusses what drove her to compile the exhibition. She will walk you through her interview process and the insights she gained through this project. Spaces for this free event are limited so make sure you make a booking to secure your seat.
