Northside Produce Market is a vibrant and atmospheric market situated in a beautiful park in North Sydney. There is free parking, a free kids playground and kids activities.

This market is all about quality seasonal produce available from growers and producers from around NSW including Kiama, Adelong and as far away as Orange.

More than 70 farmers and small producers set up shop in one spot offering the widest range of fresh produce available.

But there's more to this market than just shopping. It's about the relationships: the farmers and growers, the community and connection to the environment.

If you are new to this market or love knowing more about fresh ingredients and where they come from, then North Sydney Council have provided a special treat for you - free behind the scene tours of this vibrant market.

These tours will be taken by devoted food advocate, chef and restaurant reviewer Tawnya Bahr.

Bahr is a chef and locavore (someone who eats foods grown locally whenever possible) and is a passionate promoter of small producers.

With her expertise in cooking with seasonal ingredients, Tawnya has created this behind-the-scenes tour of Northside Produce Market.

Her goal is to educate food lovers of all ages by sharing her knowledge and providing opportunities for the farmers, growers and producers to give a real insight to the skill and hard work that goes into creating the food we consume.

On this friendly tour, you will get to meet the producers firsthand, and listen to their stories. You will learn how they grow, rear, bake or otherwise make their goods.

By the end of the tour, you will walk away with a true appreciation of seasonal produce and a few ideas on what to put on your shopping list and then your pot.

Bookings are essential. Due to limited numbers, preference is given to those who are new to this experience.

So I suggest you book early. To book click here.

Northside Produce Market runs rain, hail or shine. Examples of the producers include Adelong Farm figs claimed by some to be the best they have ever tasted, Prickle Hill Produce of Coleambally, known for their fresh and dried sugar plums - featured in their Sydney Royal award-winning Worcester sauce and Moonacres Farm of Fitzroy Falls, awarded the Delicious Produce award 'From the Earth' for their much-loved rhubarb.
