“What’s this thing called love?” asks Crystal Arons as she prepares to perform in the Australian premiere of David Eldridge's play, Beginning at the Pip Theatre Milton.

Dating and ‘love’ has certainly changed over time with the advent of online dating. Beginning is a very intimate and enlightening play about trying to make a real connection later in life, with all of life’s baggage and the challenges and exposure of online dating.

Set in London, in the aftermath of Laura’s housewarming party, Danny is the last man standing. Over a few beverages and boogies, the pair tries to navigate their vulnerabilities, overcome their fears and end their loneliness. Can they be brave, take a risk, and find the partnership they have been longing for?

Beginning is performed by two actors and runs for 100 minutes in real-time with no interval. It is presented by Moonspark Productions.

Starring Crystal Arons & Jesse Blachut and written by David Eldridge and Directed by Heidi Gledhill. Beginning was first performed in London at the National Theatre to a sold-out season and then transferred to the West End. On finding the play online, Crystal Arons connected to the character in so many ways and thought “someone needed show this NOW in Australia." She was grabbed by the script and knew it would grab Australian audiences so secured the rights to perform it in Australia.

Crystal is an International Artist and has been performing for over 20 years. She trained with Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble, Queensland Actor’s Playhouse, Grin and Tonic and completed a Bachelor of Theatre Arts (Acting) at the University of Southern Queensland. She has performed in Australia and overseas ranging from Macbeth (QSE) and a one-woman show, Dating Dingleberries (Ireland).

Beginning plays from 13 - 29 July on Fridays from 7.30pm and Saturdays – 2pm & 7:30pm. Bar opens 1 hour prior to showtime. Adul tickets are $51; Concession $46 and Preview (13/07) $36.
