I enjoy food, cooking, eating out and cute markets. I try do something new every weekend in Adelaide :)
Published June 7th 2012
A short drive from Adelaide city, you'll come across Beerenberg Farm. A strawberry farm a few kms out of the popular town Hahndorf. Just along Mt Barker Road, you'll find green pastures full of ripe strawberries. Beerenberg Farm dates back to 1839, but is now more famous for it's strawberry crops open to the public to pick their own. For an affordable price you take a container from the shop and go for the short walk down to the strawberry patches. You then go for it - pick all the fresh, ripe strawberries you can.

It's always much more fun in the summer sun but remember to bring along the sunscreen.

The pick your own strawberry season is open from October to May when the fruit is best.

Then it's time to head back to the shop to purchase your own picked strawberries, and browse other goodies such as homemade jams and marmalades.
