Take your honey to this popular waterfront cafe
The Beehive is a popular café, located in the trendy Honeysuckle Precinct along the Hunter River in Newcastle. This new area has a number of restaurants, bars and eateries along the waterfront to choose from, however The Beehive stands out with its welcoming white picket fence, cute entrance and bright colour scheme. You can't miss this aptly-named café on the Honeysuckle precinct!

We decided to visit this café before a visit to the nearby Newcastle Museum, located just a short walk away. With hanging plants, plenty of greenery and colourful seating, we looked forward to sitting down and enjoying this funky part of the Newcastle foreshore.

The Beehive has been open for two years, at the time of writing, and it is easy to see that the locals have embraced it. When we walked in, there were diners enjoying the outside tables in the shade, as well as along the bar seating at the front of the café, which had a view across the river. When we walked inside, we instantly felt cool on a hot day, with greenery hanging from the rafters and the light coloured décor created a relaxing vibe. The music was chilled and the whole atmosphere was just what we needed, before a big day exploring Newcastle.

Cool and relaxing on the inside...

Each table had a menu, which was reasonably priced and had a wide array of healthy choices on the All Day Menu. We ordered the Vegan Bruschetta and Breakie Burger with a latte and iced coffee. We couldn't have picked better. The Vegan Bruschetta was surprisingly filling, with two pieces of sourdough toast and a delicious assortment of fresh flavours combined together. The hummus was a tasty surprise, which went perfectly with each mouthful. The Breakie Burger also impressed, with a tasty relish and lean bacon - so it almost felt healthy too!

We decided to stay for another coffee and enjoy the cool oasis, before heading out to explore the museum and the rest of the Honeysuckle area. The Beehive left a strong impression in our minds, however, and we commented throughout the morning that our delicious breakfast had filled us up all the way to lunch-time. We look forward to going back again and trying other delights on the menu.

If you're out exploring the Honeysuckle area and being a busy bee, you can't leave without a visit to The Beehive...
