Oktoberfest is the annual October festival in Munich, Germany. I have been there once and it was quite amazing. I found myself dancing on the tables, which is just something I definitely d not do ever! It was great fun and unbelievable how much beer can be drunk - some of the glasses were so heavy, they were almost too heavy to lift them!

Now it is time to get your annual dose of Ohm pah pah!

This Oktoberfest is back for its 15th year and Bridge Road Brewers' famous celebration of Bavarian bier culture will take place on 12th and 13th October 2019. The venue will be Bridge Road Brewers, 50 Ford Street, Beechworth. This is a small gold-mining history, heritage architecture, shopping, accommodation, natural attractions, fabulous restaurants and wineries area northeast of Victoria.

The authenticity of this event is supported by the traditional Oom-pah band, outfits and cuisine. It is also due to the beer brewed especially for the occasion! Just like in Munich, they craft a Marzen or Oktoberfest beer. This one takes more than two months ahead of the event to make! This allows for the beer to age or lager in their tanks for a long period and results in a smooth malty lager, perfect for such an auspicious occasion.

Bridge Road founders, Ben Kraus and Maria Frischmann, have strong links to the Oktoberfest. Maria comes from the heart of the Tyrol region in Austria. She has also worked as a bier-maid at the Munich Oktoberfest. Ben gained his brewing knowledge in the same area and has been making this beer for Bridge Road's Oktoberfest for a little over 14 years.

The festival site will take up the entire brewery venue adjoining the rear of the car park. The event runs from 11.00 am until approximately 8.00 pm on the Saturday and they will have the drinks service concluding around 6.00 pm each day.

Everyone who buys a ticket holder will receive:

  • A beer stein which will hold a half litre or full litre, plus a voucher for your first fill

  • A food voucher

  • NOTE - If you have a Bridge Road Brewers branded stein from a previous year, you are welcome to bring it this along and use it - you will need to purchase a BYO ticket. Please make sure you check the ticket descriptions for details on what glass sizes / BYO glass and food combinations are available. This year, due to popular demand, they have added a vegetarian option on all packages.

PLEASE NOTE: The availability of group table bookings is limited to groups of 8 or more. These are only available to people who have already purchased tickets. The name of the ticket purchaser is required for each seat booked. For all group bookings, please email: [email protected]

The full Om-pa-pa option will be $60 and you can buy your tickets from this Facebook link. As Beechworth Oktoberfest is expected to sell out, make sure you book your tickets now.
