If you haven't yet heard of Becky Lucas, I think there's a pretty good chance that you soon will. She is a very fresh and original comedian, who manages to connect to the audience by presenting a new perspective on what are almost universal shared experiences. That is an ability common to so many top-ranked comedians, and Becky Lucas firmly establishes herself in that league with her show.

While she freely admitted that some of the material was experimental, it never came across that way. It was as slick and professional a stand-up show as you'll ever see, and she held the audience in the palm of her hand for the entire time. Even the appearance of an unexpected member of the audience didn't disrupt her flow, and she managed to keep the intimately small audience engaged and laughing throughout.

If you have a chance to see her, I'd grab the opportunity to see someone who should soon be commanding much larger audiences if there is any justice in the Australian comedy scene.
