Food and words.

Beck's Bakehouse is an incredibly popular bakery in seaside Port Noarlunga. It's a short walk away from the jetty and main beach area, but it's worth visiting come rain or shine.

Beck's Bakehouse is foremost a bakery, so they sell everything you'd expect a good bakery to stock and more. There are pies in a range of different flavours, sausage rolls, various pasties, and even their super long sausages in pastry.

Then of course there are the sweets, filled with cream, jam, or custard, and clearly calling out your name. If you're just after something to take home there are loaves of bread, quiches, and full sized take home pies.

Everything is fresh, the pastry is golden, and you'll leave feeling satisfied - not sick.

But Beck's Bakehouse has more to offer. As well as the usual bakery goods you can also choose between fresh salad rolls, toasted ciabatas, croissants, and more. You can grab a coffee or tea, or even a milk shake in traditional Cottee's flavours.

The best bit about all these different sections, apart from how the food tastes, is how well their run. Depending on what you're buying you can choose to line up in either the bakery, roll, or cafe section and place your order. This works really well when Beck's gets busy, because staff aren't spending half their time running back and forth.

It's definitely not uncommon to encounter a bit of a queue, this place is popular, but it doesn't mean you'll be waiting around for ages to get some food. They're very efficient. Come in on a weekday at lunch time and you'll find the place filled up with young families, and nearby workers grabbing some lunch.

There's plenty of room inside and outside, but it's hard to resist the outdoor seating. Of course all food is available take away, so you can pop in for a quick pick up, or head up to the beach to enjoy it on the sand. If you're walking up to the beach, stop in to get an ice cream cone.

Beck's Bakehouse is tucked away, so enter through Clarke Street off Salfleet Street, or Ward Street off Gawler Street to find it. It's only about a 5 minute walk from the jetty.
