In a career spanning more than three decades, Grace Knight has well and truly earned her stripes as one of Australia's premier jazz vocalists.
Launching the Eurogliders to the top of the charts in the 80s, Grace became one of Australia's number one selling jazz divas performing alongside the best in the business.
Grace is set to bring her love of performing to Maroochydore Surf Club on Saturday July 19, at a dinner show. Though if you don't need dinner tickets are available also just for the show.
Grace has committed to supporting Beautiful You Cancer Charity, and together with her great backup band including drummer Kerry Jacobson from Dragon, Mondo Rock and Ian Moss fame, Owen Newcomb on bass of Band of Frequencies, the show featuring Grace's own personal guitarist Sam Le Mann.
The show is brought together by Jam Factory's John Valente, whose repertoire includes putting on shows for Chelsea Brown; Earth, Wind & Fire, John Farnham and many more over the decades. Together these musicians will bring the house down.
Grace will be supported for the night by Ian G., well known Sunshine Coast musician, who like Grace is donating his time to support the cause, and will be performing through the dinner.
Grace will be doing what she loves, performing to a live audience, and helping Beautiful You raise funds to support women challenged by cancer.
Grace said this audience could expect to hear some of her past work, including hits Come in Spinner and Storm Weather, which sent her to the top 10 of the ARIA's top 25 jazz albums for 1992, as well as tracks from her latest albums.
For her hit Stormy Weather, Grace worked with American producer Larry Muhoberac, whose credits include Elvis Presley, Barbara Streisand and Elton John.
Together they produced the album Gracious in 1993, featuring Cry Me a River and Van Morrison's Moondance, with rave reviews whenever they were performed.
Grace has a commitment to mentoring, helping young artists hone their craft, and a generosity of heart reaching out to those in need she performs a limited number of charity shows annually.
Beautiful You have been chosen as one of her premier charities to support during her 2014 tour schedule, Grace will be flying in especially for the show, at the Maroochydore Surf Club Saturday week.
"When you have done it as long as I have, you can't help but want to pass on something to others, and I was so touched when I learnt the work of Beautiful You Cancer Charity," she said.
"They are a small charity doing a huge job, and need all the support they can get. To create the programs they have in just four years is outstanding, and if this show helps them even a little towards their goal of creating a retreat where women can take time out to reflect and refresh, while they go through their own private challenges would be so wonderful."
"We're definitely going to be having fun," she said.
"If you like great music and really great songs, you're welcome to come see us, and know that just by being there you are helping a great cause."
"I would like to think that if I was facing the battle of cancer I could turn to Beautiful You, I've read testimonials of women they have helped in so many ways, I hope us women can join together and give them what we can."
"Knowing this charity gives every cent back to help these women is enough for me, I look forward to a full house supporting Beautiful You."
