Beaus is an ultra-schmick café with a slight modern classroom feel to it. It's located at 34 Esplanade Headland in the heart of Kings Beach. It is open seven days from 7am to 3pm.

There is a beautiful story behind the naming of the café. In a nutshell, Beau was a local lad who met and married his sweat heart in the 1950s. Her sister married his best friend around the same time. The couples lived in the area for the next sixty years and this resulted in a happy double love story. I'll leave you to find out the rest of the details.

We arrived for breakfast and had trouble deciding between the bircher, granola, pancakes, or eggs your way. Other options include the breakfast burrito, sweet creamed corn and the Indonesian spiced fruit loaf. There are specials on the blackboard.

My dining partner settled on the everyday avocado which included bacon, tomato, dukkah and sourdough bread. He was happy with his choice. I was pleased to read they only use free range eggs and nitrate free bacon. Gluten free bread is available and there is a small menu for children.

I had already eaten but I was content with my pot of English breakfast tea. Beaus serve first class coffee based on Coffee Supreme beans. You can have your coffee almost any way you like it, including cold brewed iced coffee. The café makes their own almond milk. They also stock Chamellia spiced chai or heirloom hot chocolate.

Beaus has a selection of cold drinks from smoothies, milkshakes to soft drinks. The shop sells my favourite paleo nuts bars by Blue Dinosaur. There is an equally tempting lunch menu.

Beaus is the best place in Kings Beach for your caffeine fix.
