is surrounded by units and the park clearly exists to provide all the children living nearby with somewhere to play. However, there are lots of facilities in this small space.
Most importantly, of course, is the presence of a playground. This one is fenced and has a lot of different colourful pieces of equipment, including all the basics like swings, slides and a see-saw, all with a soft-fall surface underneath them.
The park isn't just for little kids though. There's also a basketball hoop, on the raised area above the playground. The hoop doesn't exactly come with any kind of court though--it's all grass--but the area around is is quite flat (the rest of the park is not).
If the whole family visits, there is a barbecue to cook lunch on and sheltered tables within the playground area. Near Albert Street there is also a paved area with lots of seats.
The park was named after Beatrice Thompson, who moved to Hornsby after the Depression. Thompson had a huge involvement in the local community and helped to establish local branches of the
Country Women's Association , Torchbearers for Legacy, the Hornsby Senior Citizens' Club and the Hornsby Hospital Geriatrics Auxiliary. You can learn more about her
here .
There are quite a lot of facilities at but I wouldn't recommend that anyone who doesn't live within walking distance visit the place, mainly because there's rarely any parking available on the surrounding streets.
