Twist and Shout with Beatlemania at the Melbourne Athenaeum
Beatlemania on Tour, the popular live tribute show dedicated to the legendary band The Beatles, has treated Melbourne to two performances at the Athenaeum Theatre on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th October.
Many other of the Beatles numerous hits were performed during the show, including Can't Buy Me Love, I Want to Hold Your Hand, Help, She Loves You, Revolution, Get Back, Rollover Beethoven, Back in the USSR, Nowhere Man, Lady Madonna, Ticket to Ride, Day Tripper, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Yellow Submarine and Here Comes the Sun.
The next set moved to the telling of their rise to fame and proceeded to run through periods of The Beatles recording albums, touring, appearing on television, making movies and generally becoming megastars.
The Beatlemania performers consist of Cameron Charters (as Paul McCartney), Zac Coombs (as John Lennon), Brent McMullen (as George Harrison) and Ben Harper (as Pete Best at the beginning of the show and then changed to Ringo Starr).
All of the performers were highly engaging and the whole evening was extremely enjoyable.
The music, costumes, storytelling and humour were a winning combination.
