B.East Burger Restaurant

The burger is one of those nostalgic, lazy meals that people remember fondly. There is something awesome about grabbing a burger with both hands and biting through all the different flavours. The beef, onions and tomato sauce - it's a sensory overload.

Burgers radiate ease, they're a carefree dish. For some, they are the finale to a Summer's day at the beach; for others, it's the ritual meal before a night on the town. But until recently, getting a quick burger meant either a visit to Maccas or some dingy Fish and Chip store.

Thankfully in the past few years, restaurants have been opening that specialise in producing great burgers. Burgers are now about the value added, rather than the bare minimum. Whether that's tatziki and roasted capsicum in your burger or a portobello mushroom veggie burger, people are wanting more variety and flavour to their meals. It's the Grill'd-ification of burgers.

Enter B.East (A shortening of Brunswick East), who have made gourmet burgers their signature meal. For B. East, eating gourmet burgers is not just about losing yourself in a frenzy of exotic flavours and ingredients - there is something intrinsic that makes a burger a burger.

B. East has drawn inspiration from the traditional American Diner experience to ground their burger creations. At B. East, enjoying a burger is all about convenience. Wide flat burgers in glossy buns and deep fried chips in red plastic baskets both give the feeling of a meal on the go.

On our sunny Friday arvo, we ordered a vegetarian tempeh burger, a 'Filthy' Beast and a side of chips. The food was quick to come and the service good. There was nothing fancy about how the food was presented: burgers on a plate and chips in a basket. What grabs your attention though is the rich colour in the food.

The Filthy Beast was tasty, and the beef tender. A warning however for those with delicate constitutions, even for my battle scarred taste buds, the Filthy Beast was spicy. The Tempeh burger, on the other hand, was fresh and filling, and the lemon grass shone through. To finish, the chips were super crunchy, golden and tasted great.

All in all, B.East is well worth a visit for burger lovers.
