Another Quaint Newtown Must-try
Bean Round Town is one of those small, easy to miss cafes along King Street in Newtown. I would have walked past it over a dozen times, not realising what a cute, colourful, and tasty little coffee spot it is.
Vibrant graffiti brightens the interior of the cafe.
The place is characterised by artistic coffees, sweet pastries and delicious bread-based meals. Two large containers of coffee beans are the face of this espresso bar, as are the friendly baristas who made us very welcome to wander in and wake up.
The aroma of coffee that wafted through the cafe and out the front door was very enticing. They have fantastic flat whites, piccolos, and cappuccinos amongst other warm caffeinated beverages. The coffees were served upon lime green saucers and the friendly baristas enjoy getting artsy with the presentation. Always a little sad to ruin the frothy creation.
The place uses quality deli ingredients. Simple dishes like the melts, unlike many cafes, are carefully prepared in the kitchenette in view of the customers. I also like how the fridge of ingredients is right next to this as it shows off the fresh range of products - including pineapple and pickles.
They have great food options fitting for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner - after all, they are open from 6am to 6pm. The wraps and croissants look incredible, complete with tasty fillers such as bacon and egg.
I went for a vegetarian sourdough option. Eating in was a good decision as I got to see how nicely it was presented upon a plate. Each of the toppings (mushroom, baby spinach, sun-dried tomato and heavenly haloumi) were fresh and rich in flavour.
I'd recommend dropping into Bean Round Town the next time you are in Newtown. The place is colourful and a great addition to my list of quaint coffee shops - if this is your kind of thing, check out my previous article!
