I've always loved the McLaren Vale region. It's so lush, green and fresh every time I visit. A beautiful sense of countryside just 45 minutes drive from the CBD and only 25 minutes for lucky me. The rolling hills and vineyards that stretch for miles makes for a marvellous view.

There are so many wineries, cafes and restaurants I have yet to explore but on this day, I got to add one to my list. A friend told me about and their stunning view on the deck as you dine on freshly made wood oven pizzas. Have I got your attention yet? SOLD!

We made our way there on a day that turned out to be 25°C and sunny - in other words, perfect weather. As we arrived I could smell the mouth watering pizzas coming out, my stomach may have started rumbling. There is of course a cellar door inside if you wish to taste some win but today we were on a beer hop. For dining, head straight to where the views are.

The menu was simple with choices of pizzas, a salad of the day and a few starter options. Pizzas are definitely the star here, pizzas baked in 'Queen Margherita'. Yep, that's what they call their wood oven. We opted for dips and flatbread at $12 to start. The dips of the day were beetroot and white bean, lemon plus chilli. I liked the dips; very natural and fresh especially served with crispy wood oven flatbread. It tasted like whole ingredients ground, pureed and seasoned. No additives, syrup, sugar or other crap.

Next came the pizzas. All pizzas are $20 each and don't forget to check the board for a special of the day.

Margherita was the pizza of choice for one of our dining companions. With fresh tomato, mozzarella and basil, I was told it was delicious and very fresh without a greasy of heavy feeling after. I liked how there was shreds of fresh buffalo mozarella on top as well.

Bacon Pizza was one of our choices with caramelised onion, sage, bacon and mozzarella this was a bound to be a crowd pleaser. It was a delicious porky pizza with melted cheese. If you want the juicy meaty cheesy pizza order this.

Prosciutto Pizza - tomato, mozzarella, fresh prosciutto, rocket, parmigiano and chilli. They're all good but this is hands down my favourite. I even tried to recreate it at home. They got everything right, I love prosciutto and how they put it fresh, not burnt crisp. The addition of chilli gave it a nice kick. It was a great combination of fresh ingredients giving great flavour with every bite.

Alas our lunch had to end. I'm grateful for the recommendation and certainly would recommend it myself now. They also open for brunch from 9am-11am on Sundays. Wood oven pizzas are available on weekends between 11am to 3.30pm. Check their Facebook Page for extra days from time to time.
