Fun-size park in Sandy Point near Wilsons Promontory
If you ever happen to visit the lovely, small town of Sandy Point near Wilsons Promontory, don't forget to visit Beach Parade Reserve just a couple of blocks west of the general store on Beach Parade.
After spending an afternoon at the beach with the kids, with the sun and surf almost entirely to ourselves, we spent the last few hours of daylight relaxing at the reserve. The reserve has sheltered seating and plenty of playground equipment including a super dooper long slide, smaller slide for younger children, two sets of swings, cargo net, spinning tea cup, and balance equipment.
When we visited, there were no barbecue facilities or public toilets on site but these are available only a short walk or drive east along Beach Parade at the main entrance to the surf beach, opposite the general store.
Sandy Point is an ideal base if you are visiting the Wilsons Promontory area or simply want a more secluded, beach setting for family holidays or get togethers. There are a number of holiday accommodation options in town from budget to luxury to suit your taste.
Take the time to watch the sunset in this part of Victoria and enjoy the spectacular, uninterrupted views of the coast and Wilsons Promontory in the distance.
