Opened not too long ago in North Adelaide, Beach Bum provides a good opportunity to try out Hawaiian cuisine that has a bit of a Japanese influence. The place proved to be a big hit with the locals with a large crowd present when we visited.
Taking its name from the Hawaiian raw fish salad of the same name, the raw salmon in their Salmon Poke Bowl had a wonderful fresh taste. The salmon was partnered well by the edamame beans, avocado and seaweed salad. The apple soy sauce gave the dish a delectable savoury flavour and the brown rice I chose for the "base" gave it a bit of a nutty flavour. Other choices for the "base" ingredient include white rice, soba noodles and pickled carrot and daikon salad.

Offered as a special during our visit, the grilled chicken in their Coco Beach Chicken was succulent, with the lemongrass, chilli and lime helping to subtly enhance its flavour. The coconut rice complemented the chicken well and the abundance of fresh salad balanced out the creamy taste of the rice.
