What is there not to love about a nice walk with your best (four-legged) friend at sunset? Or a weekend BBQ with family and friends on a summer's day? What about jetting off in your boat for the day, to relieve the stress from work and enjoy the rhythmic movements of the water?

Well, my friends, look no further as the answer lies within Bayview Park. Situated at the end of Burwood Road, this is no ordinary park as it offers more than just a playground for children. With spectacular walks overlooking several bays, wharfs and a public boat ramp as well as a BBQ area and picnic tables, this definitely calls for a visit.

The park itself begins with a walk overlooking Exile Bay which sets the perfect scene for a mosaic sunset if you happen to be there at the right time.

The walk then continues with the houses to your left overlooking the bay to your right, eventually giving way to golf driving ranges which extend for quite a fair bit. Exile Bay then becomes France Bay as the walk curves and bends, though I must admit, you don't really notice any change. Continuing the walk, the golf driving ranges become houses again and then suddenly you find yourself in the BBQ area, completed with children's play equipment, BBQ stoves, taps and sheltered picnic tables. What better way to replenish after a long walk than a BBQ with family and friends along the bay?

The walk continues on past the BBQ area, where you will see numerous wharfs and boat ramps for those living bay-side and even some recreational fishermen who sit themselves on the water's edge waiting for their prize.

There is an ending to this magnificent walk (unfortunately). It finishes at a dead end with a gate leading out onto the streets adjacent to it, though I wouldn't risk going out there if you don't know the area well. Otherwise, you can always enjoy the long walk back to the start and relive the view again. All in all, this approximately 6.5km walk is the sure-fire way to get fit or just to enjoy an evening with your best friend.

In addition, the park has its very own carpark which provides free parking all day, as well as roadside parking leading up to the park.

And to top it all off, the availability of public toilets, rubbish bins (and doggy bins) near the BBQ area make this park all the more family oriented and ensures the cleanliness and sustainability of such a beautiful natural reserve.

So why not grab your gear and hurry down here for a BBQ and day out with family and friends? Believe me, you won't regret it.
